Social Services Program Consultant – Monitoring Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Monitoring Specialist to provide oversight, consultation, and technical assistance to Child Placing Agencies and Child Caring Institutions delivering Room, Board and Watchful Oversight (RBWO) services across the state. This position involves extensive travel (approximately 75% of the time) and requires a valid driver’s license and an insured vehicle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct operational, records, and safety reviews of RBWO providers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and minimum standards.
• Assess child and caregiver needs to determine appropriate per‑diem rates, program designations, and placement decisions.
• Maintain routine interactions with agencies, community partners, and DFCS case managers.
• Provide technical assistance and support to DFCS case management staff regarding provider performance.

Required profile

• Experience in child welfare or related human services field.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including overnight trips.
• Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.
