Social Media Intern – Newsroom

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Social Media Intern to join the Audience Development team at a leading news brand. This part‑time, 24‑hour‑per‑week position runs from early February to early April and offers hands‑on experience creating and managing content across major social platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and scheduling posts for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
• Engage with the audience by responding to comments and sparking conversations.
• Discover, curate and share viral and trending content to keep feeds fresh.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to highlight breaking news and exclusive stories.
• Analyze social‑media performance metrics to help optimise engagement strategies.

Required profile

• Current junior or senior student, graduate student or recent graduate (within one year).
• Passionate about social media, news and pop‑culture trends.
• Strong communicator with a creative flair for concise, attention‑grabbing posts.
• Team‑player who can collaborate across departments and learn quickly.
• Previous experience in a newsroom or media environment is a plus.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok platforms.
