Snowflake Developer

About the role

The Snowflake Developer will design, build, and optimise Northeastern University’s Snowflake data platform, enabling analytics, automation and AI‑driven workflows. You will work with legacy systems such as Banner, Workday, Salesforce and ServiceNow to create modern, scalable data pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain Snowflake schemas, tables, dynamic tables, materialised views, file formats, stages and secure data‑sharing structures.
• Develop performant SQL/ELT code using Snowflake best practices, including clustering, micro‑partitioning and query profiling.
• Design and implement ELT pipelines with tools such as DBT, Fivetran or Informatica and integrate legacy enterprise systems.
• Leverage Snowflake Cortex, Snowpark and vectorised storage for AI/ML workloads, including embeddings, LLM inference and semantic search.
• Implement data‑quality rules, metadata tagging, lineage tracking and security controls (RBAC, masking policies, FERPA/GDPR compliance).

Required profile

• 4–6+ years building cloud‑native data pipelines or enterprise data platforms.
• 3–5+ years of hands‑on Snowflake development, including performance tuning and cost optimisation.
• Experience modernising legacy data structures and migrating workloads into Snowflake.
• Proven ability to work with enterprise systems such as Workday, Salesforce or ServiceNow.

Required skills

• Snowflake architecture, warehouses, micro‑partitioning, clustering and dynamic tables.
• SQL, DBT, Fivetran, Informatica or equivalent ELT tools.
• Snowpark (Python), UDFs, streams, tasks and Snowflake Cortex.
• Data modelling (data vault, star/snowflake schema) and data‑product design.
• Event streaming technologies (Kafka, Azure Event Hub) and API integrations.
