About the role
Saronic Technologies is seeking an experienced Welder (Technician/Fabrication) to join its shipyard team. You will work on autonomous maritime platforms, performing structural and pipe welding on hulls, decks, bulkheads, and other critical components.
Key responsibilities
- Read and interpret weld symbols, blueprints, and sketches to determine project specifications.
- Perform carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and Cupro‑Nickel welds using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW‑P processes in 3G, 4G, and 6G positions.
- Inspect completed welds, identify defects, and apply corrective measures to meet NDT and classification society standards.
- Prepare work surfaces by grinding, cutting, and cleaning; conduct fit‑up, tacking, and multi‑pass welding in confined or elevated spaces.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and daily safety inspections; follow shipyard PPE and confined‑space protocols.
- Assist in training junior welders and collaborate with metal fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades.
Required profile
- Proven experience with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW‑P welding processes.
- Certification in fillet and butt welds for carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and Cupro‑Nickel.
- Ability to work safely aloft on scaffolds, manlifts, and in confined spaces.
- Strong knowledge of metal characteristics and the effects of welding on various alloys.
