Shipyard Production Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Shipyard Production Engineer to support the scaled manufacturing and development of autonomous surface vessels. The role combines hands‑on shipbuilding experience with advanced autonomous technologies, working directly in the Franklin shipyard and collaborating remotely with design teams in Austin.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, analysis, and construction of autonomous surface vessels (ASVs).
• Perform CAD modeling, structural, mechanical, and electrical design, and weight management for vessel optimization.
• Act as liaison between engineering, drafting, and production to resolve design and construction challenges.
• Identify and resolve non‑conformances, lead root‑cause analysis, and drive resolutions via Issue Review Boards (IRBs) and rework plans.
• Lead and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) ensuring traceability, communication, implementation, and verification.
• Support integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs.
• Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and documentation for internal, regulatory, and client use.
• Manage CAD models to document changes during ship construction and support sea‑trials.
• Create production processes in unstructured areas and help transition the shipyard from low‑rate to high‑volume production.
• Onboard new automated production assets and translate shipbuilding processes into a digital, scalable format.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in traditional shipbuilding and autonomous technologies.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints and technical sketches.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on root‑cause analysis and defect disposition.
• Capacity to work under peak production periods, prioritizing tasks and maintaining workflow efficiency.
