Shipyard Fitter – Mechanical Assembly & Welding

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a skilled Fitter to join its shipyard production team. You will work on the construction and repair of autonomous maritime platforms, performing mechanical assembly, welding, and pipe‑system installation in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and material take‑offs to determine project specifications.
• Cut, grind and assemble metal structural parts using circular, reciprocating, miter and chop saws.
• Perform tack and multi‑pass welding (SMAW, GMAW/MIG, FCAW, GMAW‑P) and operate oxy‑acetylene torches.
• Fabricate, align and install pipe systems, fittings, flanges, skid frames, foundations and large ship machinery.
• Use rigging equipment, jacks, turnbuckles, wedges and heavy hammers to position components.
• Inspect and test installed systems with pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing and visual observation.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow shipyard safety policies, including PPE and confined‑space protocols.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work aloft on scaffolds or man‑lifts and in confined spaces.
• Willingness to receive on‑site training and collaborate with welders, pipefitters, electricians and other trades.
