Senior Technical Project & Program Manager (E5)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Technical Project & Program Manager (E5) to own and lead a flagship product development program from concept through customer release and high‑volume production. This full‑time position is based in Santa Clara, CA, and involves driving predictable delivery across complex, cross‑functional, global teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a large, multi‑year product development program with full accountability for execution, outcomes, and customer readiness.
• Define program strategy, governance, and resourcing aligned with business unit objectives and product roadmaps.
• Direct and influence senior engineers, work‑stream leaders, and functional managers across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and product marketing.
• Maintain integrated program plans, drive schedule, cost, quality, and risk performance, and ensure execution readiness for manufacturing ramp and sustained production.
• Provide executive‑level visibility through regular reviews, dashboards, and risk assessments, presenting trade‑offs and recommendations to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven expertise leading large‑scale, highly complex programs spanning hardware, software, and systems integration.
• Strong leadership influencing global, matrixed teams without direct authority, establishing execution standards and governance.
• Ability to translate market dynamics and internal constraints into program priorities and investment decisions.
• Excellent analytical judgment to evaluate risks, assess alternatives, and support timely executive decisions.
