Senior Technical Program Manager – Payments Planning

About the role
The Senior Technical Program Manager will lead planning and delivery across Mastercard’s Payments domain, overseeing roadmaps, forecasts, budgets, headcount and delivery commitments for multiple concurrent programs. Working closely with product managers, technology leads, architects and operations, the role ensures complex initiatives are executed on schedule and aligned with business objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of large technical programs, aligning cross‑functional teams and removing blockers.
- Translate strategy into prioritized roadmaps, delivery plans, milestones and forecasts.
- Partner with Finance and Engineering to manage program budgets, headcount, capacity and vendor spend.
- Establish program health metrics, manage risks and dependencies, and provide executive‑level reporting.
- Influence senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Operations and Finance to drive alignment without direct authority.
- Bring structure to ambiguous problems, identify root causes and drive decisions to closure.
- Continuously improve execution predictability using data, metrics and stakeholder feedback.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience leading large‑scale technical programs from inception to delivery.
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills across Agile, Waterfall or hybrid environments.
- Demonstrated financial and resource management, including budgeting and capacity planning.
- Excellent executive communication, presenting status, risks and trade‑offs to senior leaders.
- Ability to influence without authority and align diverse stakeholder groups.
- Technical and analytical acumen to assess complexity, identify delivery risks and make data‑driven decisions.
