Senior Technical Program Manager – Automotive Software

About the role

Join a joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to lead the integration of hardware and software for the next generation of electric vehicles. As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will drive end‑to‑end initiatives across multiple product development programs.

Key responsibilities

• Support feature champions and partners to deliver across Rivian and Volkswagen Group.
• Plan, create, and maintain technical schedules, priorities, and execution plans for multiple software programs.
• Drive cross‑functional software programs internally and with external partners.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and technical leadership to achieve business and technical goals.
• Manage stakeholder expectations, identify and mitigate dependencies and risks.
• Ensure technical designs are feasible, scalable, and of high quality.
• Provide leadership to unblock obstacles and prioritize work rigorously.
• Deliver progress updates to program teams and executive management.
• Escalate issues proactively and implement continuous process improvements.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 6+ years of technical or engineering program management experience.
• Experience with systems engineering principles and hardware/software development lifecycles.
• Background in test and validation, agile and waterfall methodologies, and use of Jira or similar tools.
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Proven track record in software development project planning, progress tracking, and risk management.
• Understanding of hardware/software bring‑up for distributed systems.
• Experience with software‑defined vehicles is a plus.
