Senior Technical Engineering Leader - Guidewire PolicyCenter & Policy Lifecycle

About the role

Mapfre is looking for a senior technical engineering leader to drive the architecture, design and modernization of its Guidewire PolicyCenter platform and the broader policy lifecycle ecosystem. The role combines deep Guidewire expertise with strong engineering leadership to deliver scalable, secure insurance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design and architecture for new PolicyCenter capabilities, integrations, cloud modernization and product implementations.
• Design, develop, test and support enterprise‑scale solutions covering product configuration, quoting, underwriting, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals and cancellations.
• Drive Guidewire Cloud adoption, automation, API enablement and reduction of technical debt.
• Mentor software engineers, conduct architecture and code reviews, and promote engineering best practices and DevOps culture.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, underwriting, billing, claims and digital teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure platform reliability, performance and observability using monitoring tools and lead incident root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years in technical leadership.
• Strong experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter development, configuration and integrations.
• Proven ability to deliver complex technical projects from concept to production.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and mentoring engineering teams.

Required skills

• Guidewire PolicyCenter (development, configuration, APIs).
• Java and Gosu programming.
• Enterprise integration and distributed system design.
• Cloud platforms (AWS) and Guidewire Cloud Platform.
• CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, DevOps practices.
• Observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk.
