Senior Systems Software Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer to design, implement, and optimize software for autonomous surface vessels. You will work closely with hardware engineers and cross‑functional teams to deliver robust, high‑performance solutions for maritime operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software systems on NixOS for navigation, control, and communication.
• Integrate software with vessel hardware, ensuring seamless operation.
• Implement control and sensor‑fusion algorithms.
• Optimize network communications for low‑bandwidth, high‑latency environments.
• Conduct testing and validation to guarantee reliability in real‑world maritime conditions.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold high coding standards.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Document designs, processes, and test results for compliance and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Senior level: 3+ years of software engineering experience; Staff level: 8+ years, including architecture or platform ownership.
• Experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or embedded systems is preferred.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced startup environment.
