Senior Staff / Staff Software Engineer

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Staff or Staff Software Engineer to tackle the most important and technically challenging problems at Campus. This hands‑on role combines coding, architecture, and technical leadership across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own technically complex, high‑impact problems from ambiguity through production and iteration.
• Work across the stack and product areas, not limited to a narrow technical domain.
• Shape architecture and technical direction while remaining deeply involved in implementation.
• Partner closely with product, design, operations, and leadership to determine what to build and how.
• Identify technical investments that create leverage for other engineers and product teams.
• Raise the quality of engineering decisions through design reviews, code reviews, mentorship, and technical leadership.
• Make pragmatic trade‑offs between speed, simplicity, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
• Leverage modern AI tools to increase engineering productivity and shape an AI‑native development environment.
• Help evolve engineering practices and technical foundations as the team and product scale.

Required profile

• A track record of owning complex software systems or product initiatives with meaningful technical and business impact.
• Deep software engineering fundamentals and ability to move comfortably between architecture and implementation.
• Experience turning ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions and driving them to production.
• Strong judgment on when to build for the future versus choosing the simplest solution.
• Experience influencing technical decisions beyond your immediate codebase or team.
• History of making other engineers more effective through mentorship, tooling, architecture, or improved practices.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions and trade‑offs clearly to both engineering and non‑engineering partners.
• Comfort working in a fast‑moving environment with high ownership and lightweight organizational boundaries.
• Curiosity about how AI is changing software development and desire to use these tools thoughtfully.
