Senior Staff Engineer – Power System for Launch Recovery Vehicle

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a senior engineer to define and execute the vision for the power system of its Launch and Recovery Vehicle, from concept through production. The role involves leading the design of high‑power generation, regulation, distribution and control systems that must operate reliably in harsh environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the full power system architecture, including generation, regulation, distribution, quality and control.
• Design, develop and integrate state‑of‑the‑art high‑power electronics tailored for optimal performance.
• Guide teammates in custom power‑electronic designs and enable an uninterruptible power system.
• Conduct make‑vs‑buy trade studies, select, test and integrate modules for aircraft use.
• Verify system performance and reliability through rigorous testing and validation.
• Debug complex electrical, environmental and manufacturing issues.
• Build and lead a team of engineers focused on power system design.
• Drive cross‑functional collaboration to execute top‑level architecture and provide mentorship.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in power system design for large vehicles, aircraft, rockets, satellites or similar platforms.
• Proven track record of delivering power system and power‑electronics products to market.
• Strong technical fundamentals and analytical skills.
