Senior Software Engineer (Compiler & AI Tooling)

About the role

Code Metal is building a new generation of transpilation tools that combine generative AI, static analysis, and formal verification to translate code across languages. The senior engineer will lead architecture and implementation of these pipelines, bridging algorithm development and embedded system deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Define software architecture for Agentic AI pipelines, including state machines, orchestration layers, and LLM‑integrated workflows.
• Build well‑tested, extensible foundations for code translation products with a focus on correctness and maintainability.
• Collaborate with domain specialists to embed formal verification and static analysis into the generation pipeline.
• Partner with engineering and research teams to create robust code repositories and CI/CD processes.
• Architect and implement complex workflows spanning parsing, semantic analysis, AI‑assisted generation, and output validation.

Required profile

• 7+ years of enterprise‑level software development in C++ or Python, delivering products to a large customer base.
• Proven ability to gather stakeholder requirements and translate them into software designs.
• Experience planning and executing large projects in a collaborative team setting.
• Strong delivery fundamentals including code review, testing, CI/CD, release management, and build systems.

Required skills

• C++ and Python programming.
• Compiler infrastructure such as Clang, LLVM, or MLIR.
• AST design, IR transformations, and code generation back‑ends.
• AI orchestration with LLMs, tool‑use pipelines, and frameworks like PyTorch, Hugging Face, or LangChain.
• Formal verification techniques (e.g., TLA+, Coq, Z3) and advanced testing (fuzzing, symbolic execution).
• Embedded, heterogeneous (FPGA/GPU) or distributed system experience.
