Senior Principal Global Industrial Analytics Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a senior technical authority to lead the design and governance of manufacturing data systems worldwide. You will shape the OT‑to‑IT data architecture, enable advanced analytics, and drive AI/ML solutions that improve production efficiency and product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the global OT data architecture strategy, including acquisition, middleware, historian, contextualization layers, and pipelines.
• Select, standardize, and implement industrial data platforms, protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT) and edge solutions.
• Ensure secure, reliable, and scalable data movement from shop‑floor systems to IT and cloud environments in line with cybersecurity policies.
• Establish reference architectures and implementation patterns for all manufacturing sites.
• Lead development of global data models, asset hierarchies, naming conventions, and governance processes.
• Enable reusable analytics across similar assets and processes, supporting dashboards, alerts, and optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering, data science, data engineering, and IT teams to deliver predictive‑maintenance and closed‑loop control use cases.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on manufacturing experience with a strong understanding of OT systems.
• Proven ability to define and govern large‑scale data architectures globally.
• Excellent collaboration skills across cross‑functional, multi‑regional teams.
• Senior‑level expertise in translating business needs into technical solutions.
