Senior Planner

About the role

Artheon, a trusted engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Planner to join its Planning Department in Albany, New York. The role involves serving as a trusted advisor to municipal clients, managing planning projects from inception through implementation, and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical research, writing, document preparation and publication.
• Lead public engagement activities including presentations, community surveys, stakeholder interviews, website setup and community meetings.
• Attend public meetings and hearings, and prepare comprehensive plans, zoning regulations, form‑based codes and design guidelines.
• Develop community strategies across New York and conduct environmental reviews (SEQRA/NEPA) including Environmental Impact Statements.
• Collaborate with team members on a variety of planning projects.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Planning or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional consulting experience with project management/leadership responsibilities.
• Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prepare budgets, work plans and proposals, and supervise staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS software.
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
