Senior or Staff Imaging Engineer

About the role

Activ Surgical is building a platform that brings the latest sensing technology to minimally invasive surgery, so that the invisible can be visualized to improve surgical decisions and outcomes. As part of the R&D team, you will design and prototype novel real-time minimally invasive medical imaging and sensing technologies for tissue visualization, stay current on pressing clinical challenges, develop new sensing techniques and share them with the wider team.

Required profile

• MS or PhD in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline such as Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
• Hands-on experience with optical imaging technologies and camera sensors
• Experience developing real-time imaging or sensing systems
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and rapidly prototype novel sensing solutions
• Strong communication skills and close collaboration with a cross-functional team
• Regular presence and collaboration in the office; full-remote is not acceptable

Required skills

• Optical design with Zemax or equivalent software
• Preferred: hands-on optical design and optimization for complex imaging systems, medical device R&D, image analysis background, and ML/AI experience
