Senior Manager, Sustaining Engineering & Operations

About the role

The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) portfolio is expanding rapidly across multiple brand partners, making sustaining engineering a strategic priority. As Senior Manager, you will own the post‑launch lifecycle of ECU hardware, driving failure analysis, RMA handling, and continuous improvement across Zonal, Battery, Infotainment and Connectivity ECUs.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead a cross‑functional ECU sustaining team covering failure analysis, electrical and mechanical engineering, program management and document control.
• Define and scale the sustaining operating model, including triage processes, tooling, and resource planning for internal and outsourced activities.
• Manage third‑party engineering service providers and contract manufacturers, setting statements of work, deliverables, capacity and spend.
• Drive uninterrupted supply through capacity planning, EOL risk mitigation, design refresh decisions and coordination with purchasing.
• Own RMA and change‑management systems, leading root‑cause investigations, corrective actions and escalation with suppliers.

Required profile

• 12+ years in electronics hardware sustaining engineering, quality or technical program management (automotive, aerospace or consumer electronics).
• 5+ years of people‑leadership experience, hiring and developing engineers and program managers.
• BS/MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or related engineering discipline.
• Proven ownership of field return, RMA and failure‑analysis processes for high‑volume PCBA assemblies.

Required skills

• PCBA design and manufacturing knowledge (SMT, press‑fit, connectors, conformal coating, potting, torque control).
• Failure‑analysis methodologies (8D, 5‑Why, FMEA).
• Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety, IATF 16949 change control, PPAP and deviation management.
• Component obsolescence, EOL management and second‑source qualification.
• Use of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) for program tracking.
