Senior Manager, Embedded Systems Engineering

About the role

Radiant, a startup developing portable nuclear micro‑reactors, is looking for a Senior Manager to lead its embedded software engineering team. The role will drive the architecture, development, and validation of the instrumentation and control (I&C) software that powers the Kaleidos reactor slated for commercial deployment in 2028.

Key responsibilities

• Build, grow and manage a high‑performing team of embedded engineers, overseeing hiring, performance reviews and career development.
• Partner with technical leads to define embedded software architecture, testing frameworks, validation methodology, documentation standards and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, hardware and executive stakeholders to align priorities, interfaces and constraints.
• Own program execution across the embedded engineering lifecycle, setting milestones, tracking delivery and ensuring accountability from design through field implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of industry experience in embedded software, including system‑level architecture decisions and real‑time operating systems.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience with a proven record of hiring, performance management and team development.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an early‑stage, ambiguous environment and influence cross‑functional teams.
