Senior Manager, Business Operations – Surgical Services

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth/SoLé Mia is seeking a Senior Manager to lead Business Operations for its Surgical Services division. This full‑time position will oversee financial, operational, and process‑improvement activities that support high‑quality academic medicine across North Miami, Aventura and surrounding communities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and evaluate department operations, including statistical reporting, budget support, capital planning and process improvement.
• Develop, monitor and enforce the annual budget in line with university policies; analyze monthly variances and recommend performance enhancements.
• Formulate departmental policies, oversee expenditure approvals, and ensure fiscal integrity through internal‑control assessments.
• Coordinate contractual obligations, supply and equipment management, and cost‑effective support systems.
• Implement HR actions such as hiring, terminations, salary adjustments, and staff performance reporting.
• Serve as the primary resource for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation system, guiding new‑employee orientation and preventative maintenance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in business operations, financial management and budgeting within a healthcare or academic setting.
• Proven ability to lead process‑improvement initiatives and manage complex internal controls.
• Strong understanding of HR practices, contract oversight and departmental policy development.
• Excellent analytical skills with a track record of delivering strategic financial recommendations.
