Senior Manager, Aviation SMS & FOD – A320

About the role

The Senior Manager, Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) & Operational Quality leads site‑wide aviation safety, foreign object debris (FOD) prevention and industrial quality excellence for Airbus A320 production in Mobile, AL. This dual‑function position governs the four pillars of SMS, ensures compliance with EASA/FAA regulations, and drives continuous improvement across the aircraft lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the site Safety Management System, managing a team of 18‑23 SMS representatives, conducting investigations, risk assessments and safety training.
• Lead FOD eradication strategy, enforce EN9100/9110 quality standards, and develop KPIs to reduce Cost of Non‑Quality.
• Deploy the Airbus Operating System (AOS) Lean/continuous‑improvement framework across HSE, EEM, PSE, PCL and PEM domains.
• Host regulatory audits (EASA, FAA), represent the site in executive‑level multi‑functional teams and cross‑site harmonisation committees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Industrial Engineering or related field; 10+ years in aerospace manufacturing, safety or quality management.
• Proven experience leading multi‑functional teams and deep knowledge of EASA/FAA airworthiness regulations, QMS (EN9100/9110) and SMS implementation.
