Senior Director of Communications

About the role

The Senior Director of Communications will shape sweetgreen’s enterprise communications strategy, driving brand recognition, protecting reputation, and accelerating growth. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer and joining the Commercial Leadership Team, this high‑visibility role partners with the executive team to influence decisions and craft cultural narratives.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the cultural communications strategy, creating moments around menu drops, chef collaborations, brand partnerships and community activations.
• Lead the always‑on editorial strategy across earned channels such as Substack, newsletters, social platforms and podcasts.
• Set the corporate narrative for consumer, business, executive and financial audiences, directing agency partners to maximize press coverage and brand visibility.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Marketing, Legal, Finance and Operations to ensure consistent messaging.
• Oversee the development of press releases, brand films, investor communications, partnership announcements and other external content.
• Manage external agency relationships and communications budget to ensure strong ROI.
• Serve as strategic communications partner to founders and the executive team, shaping founder‑led storytelling across social media, podcasts and speaking engagements.
