Senior Director, Export Compliance

About the role

The Senior Director, Export Compliance leads Airbus’s export compliance program, ensuring adherence to U.S. export control regulations such as ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and related statutes. The role integrates legal requirements with business objectives, conducts audits, and drives corrective actions in partnership with the Americas Head of Trade Compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Empowered Official and DECCS Administrator; manage SNAP‑R and ACE accounts and oversee Part 122/129 registrations.
• Provide day‑to‑day export and trade regulation guidance, including classification, licensing analysis, and screening of transaction parties.
• Develop and maintain a local compliance program aligned with Airbus’s One Roof Export & Trade Compliance Internal Control Plan.
• Track and deliver training on U.S. export and trade regulations for employees and partners.
• Plan, execute, and manage audits of operating locations; develop remediation plans for identified gaps.
• Review export shipping documentation, ensure correct Schedule B codes, ECCNs, USML categories, and coordinate with freight forwarders.
• Handle other duties as assigned, including contractual compliance reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international trade, business, engineering or related field (JD or MBA preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in export/import management, logistics, or international trade; at least 5 years managing an export‑compliance program.
• U.S. Person status under ITAR (U.S. citizen, green‑card holder, or covered by existing ITAR license).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 10 % domestically and internationally.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of DECCS, SNAP‑R, and ACE systems.
• Expertise in ITAR, OFAC, EAR, FTR, and U.S. Customs regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, G‑Suite and ERP applications.
