Senior Design Engineer, Design Systems

About the role

Clipboard is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to build and scale its design system from the ground up. You will own the backbone that connects design and engineering, shaping architecture, reusable components, and AI tooling that enable the entire product team to prototype and ship high‑quality, system‑led experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Establish the system’s architecture across Figma and code, from primitives and tokens to components and critical user flows.
• Build reusable, production‑ready components with full state, interaction, motion, and accessibility support.
• Keep design and code in sync, resolving gaps between Figma, Storybook, and the codebase.
• Define standards for quality, consistency, and accessibility, and enforce them across teams.
• Create AI tooling, documentation, and usage guidance that let the entire EPD team prototype and build efficiently.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience building production frontend design systems for web and mobile.
• Strong frontend engineering skills with modern web technologies and component‑based architecture.
• Proven ability to stand up or consolidate design systems, align Figma libraries with production code, and champion accessibility.
