Senior Civil/Roadway Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking experienced Senior Roadway Engineers to join its Centreville, VA, and Washington, DC offices. The role involves delivering high‑quality roadway and civil engineering solutions across the DC region, focusing on safety, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Perform conventional and complex highway/roadway engineering tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Lead specific disciplines on projects of varying size or contribute as part of larger teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers, drafters, and junior engineers.
• Plan and design roadway facilities that prioritize safety, reliability, resource efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.
• Develop engineering computations, material quantity take‑offs, cost estimates, surveys, and designs.
• Foster cooperative relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

Required profile

• 8–15 years of experience in highway/roadway engineering design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure highly preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, MicroStation, and industry‑standard roadway design and analysis software.
• Familiarity with VDOT and DDOT standards and practices is a plus.
• Hybrid work arrangement based in Centreville, VA, or Washington, DC.
