Senior Business Compliance & Payroll Manager

About the role

Smart City is the nation’s largest apartment locating brokerage expanding into new markets. We need a senior professional to centralize compliance and payroll functions, ensuring best‑practice processes and seamless execution across six states.

Key responsibilities

• Entity and state compliance, including formation, registrations, annual reports, and license renewals.
• End‑to‑end payroll processing in ADP, managing garnishments, deductions and reconciling to the general ledger.
• Payroll tax and employment registrations, state withholding and unemployment insurance setup.
• Tax filings and personal property tax renditions, franchise tax and annual report coordination.
• Legal operations: intake, triage, outside counsel management, contract repository maintenance.
• Maintain a compliance calendar and provide monthly status reports.

Required profile

• High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 4+ years experience in compliance, business operations, contract management or payroll operations.
• Proven ability to create systems, enforce deadlines and drive accountability.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ADP payroll platform.
• Experience using Asana or other project‑management tools.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Familiarity with CRM platforms.
• Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets).
• Understanding of macOS and iOS for business use.
