Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at Semgrep, you will design, build, and maintain the backend and infrastructure that power our code‑security platform. You’ll work closely with other engineers to create APIs, data models, and services that deliver a fast, reliable experience for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate backend services that scale with Semgrep’s product usage.
• Develop and optimize APIs, data models, and database queries for performance and reliability.
• Integrate third‑party vendor solutions into the existing codebase.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless delivery of new features.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of databases, query optimization, and distributed systems.
• Experience building backend services in Python (Flask) and familiarity with SQLAlchemy.
• Willingness to learn and work with TypeScript, React, Kubernetes, and AWS quickly.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending 3+ days per week onsite.
