Senior Avionics Engineer – Satellite Data Center

About the role

The Senior Avionics Engineer will lead the design, development, and integration of electrical systems for advanced data‑center satellites. Working in San Carlos, you will collaborate with software, mechanical, thermal, and compute teams to deliver high‑performance, space‑qualified hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design and test electrical hardware for satellite subsystems, focusing on compute power management, FPGA‑based boards, and signal processing.
• Develop schematics, PCB layouts, and harness diagrams for laser and other satellite systems.
• Perform testing and debugging to ensure robust operation under thermal‑vacuum, vibration, and EMI conditions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to guarantee seamless system integration.
• Maintain detailed technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, and test plans.
• Support environmental qualification testing and participate in design reviews.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and improve lab design processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of electrical design experience, preferably in aerospace or satellite systems.
• Hands‑on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and soldering stations.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in a lab environment.
