Senior Attorney

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking a Senior Attorney to join its Legal & Ethics Department. The attorney will act as a strategic legal partner across the Bank and the broader Federal Reserve System, providing sophisticated counsel on complex corporate and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide responsive counsel on day‑to‑day legal issues throughout the organization.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on special projects and strategic initiatives.
• Advise on banking supervision matters, regulatory applications, M&A transactions, and emerging financial‑services legal issues.
• Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and assess their impact on business operations.
• Support the administration of the Bank’s public‑records disclosure policy.
• Guide employment policy, compliance matters, and risk‑mitigation strategies.
• Lead drafting, negotiation, and review of commercial agreements, service contracts, RFPs, NDAs, licenses, and vendor agreements.
• Partner with procurement to ensure compliant contracting processes and maintain contract templates and playbooks.
• Provide ethics and compliance training for employees and law‑enforcement leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in Missouri or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Six to ten years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, governmental agency, and/or in‑house setting.
• Demonstrated judgment, versatility, and ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business solutions.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of corporate law, banking supervision, and regulatory compliance.
• Expertise in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Experience advising on employment law and public‑records disclosure.
• Ability to develop and deliver legal training programs.
