Senior AI Engineer

About the role

Clark is building the trust infrastructure for the AI economy, focusing on audit and accounting workflows where reliability, accuracy, and security are critical. The Senior AI Engineer will join the Ava team to design and ship production AI systems that automate complex audit and accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and improve LLM‑powered workflows and agentic systems for audit and accounting tasks.
• Build and maintain retrieval, reasoning, evaluation, and validation infrastructure for high‑trust environments.
• Partner with Audit Engineers and customers to translate real workflows into reliable AI solutions.
• Create monitoring, guardrails, and human‑in‑the‑loop review mechanisms.
• Optimize accuracy, latency, cost, and scalability of production AI pipelines.
• Debug AI failure modes, improve system performance, and establish technical standards for safe AI.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building production systems.
• Strong backend or full‑stack engineering fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience with LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, or modern AI models.
• Experience designing evaluations and improving AI performance using production data.
• Comfortable working with probabilistic systems and designing for uncertainty.
• Ability to work directly with domain experts and translate complex workflows into software.
