Senior Accountant

About the role

Senior Accountant at Sierra, a leading platform for customer‑facing AI agents serving major brands such as GAP, Rocket Mortgage and SoftBank. The role is based in San Francisco and focuses on end‑to‑end accounting close, financial reporting and driving finance transformation using AI.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end accounting close, including cash, prepaid, fixed assets, payroll and accruals.
• Support the Accounting Lead with month‑close procedures globally and prepare supporting documentation and reconciliations.
• Perform initial expense reviews, develop robust accrual processes and coordinate with FP&A for monthly reporting packages.
• Handle daily ad‑hoc accounting tasks, vendor bill reviews, corporate credit‑card and employee reimbursement processing.
• Manage cash application, monitor global balances, improve collections and coordinate payroll journal entries and tax payments.
• Prepare for audit readiness, work with external auditors for global and local statutory audits.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives, enhance the tech stack and implement AI‑first approaches.

Required profile

• 4‑8 years of accounting experience in both public (highly regulated) and private (hyper‑growth) environments.
• Proven ability to identify improvement areas and build solutions using AI.
• Self‑directed, detail‑oriented problem solver who can design, run and continuously improve processes.
• Experience with IPOs in enterprise B2B software companies is a plus.
• CPA license and/or Big 4 experience is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency in US GAAP.
• Familiarity with modern office‑of‑the‑CFO technology stacks.
• Ability to work with AI‑driven finance tools and close management software.
