Seat Lab Test Technician

A leading supplier of automotive test facilities is hiring a Seat Lab Test Technician in Dearborn, MI. The role suits people with some knowledge and experience in automotive, either on the job or as a hobby, who want to learn automotive testing from an industry leader. Key responsibilities

• Conduct standard seat testing on multiple test stands and shaker tables, and carry out test set-ups and part changes between tests
• Work across several labs in a building, retrieve test parts and update test status in the database, communicating with lab leads and engineers
• Maintain work area documentation such as note logs, check sheets, sample inventory and fixtures
• Install and use test lab instrumentation such as transducers, accelerometers, load cells and potentiometers, following all SOPs and EH&S rules
• Keep lab supplies, store and ship test parts and fixtures before and after tests, and record new procedural information for new programs

Required profile

• High school diploma required
• Self-starter, highly motivated, strong team player with a positive attitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb and crawl, and work mostly indoors with occasional exposure to test chambers; critical regular attendance and punctuality
• Pre-employment drug screen, health evaluation, physical and background check, and dependability of personal transport

Required skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, focused on Excel
• Desired: two-year degree in Automotive Technology or similar, 1+ years in a related testing field
• Desired: ability to prepare test samples, design and mount custom test fixtures, run standard tests and support test engineers, basic hand tools and machine shop experience
