Seasonal Advanced Practice Practitioner – Urgent Care

About the role

Vail Health Hospital is seeking a Seasonal Advanced Practice Practitioner to join its Urgent Care team in Avon, Colorado for the winter season. Working under the direction of Colorado Mountain Physicians, you will deliver diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive care to patients in a fast‑paced mountain‑health environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take medical histories, perform examinations, diagnose and treat patients, including minor injuries and musculoskeletal issues.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests and x‑ray imaging, prescribe appropriate medications, and refill prescriptions.
• Maintain accurate medical and business records to support billing and compliance.
• Handle non‑patient duties such as patient messaging, electronic prescribing (eRx), document review and lab results management.
• Model the principles of a Just Culture and uphold organizational values.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising physicians.

Required profile

• Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a related setting (preferred).
• Current licensure and certifications as required by the employee contract and credentialed by the Medical Staff Office.
• Ability to work under the direction of designated Colorado Mountain Physicians.

Required skills

• Electronic prescribing (eRx) proficiency.
• Laboratory test ordering and interpretation.
• X‑ray interpretation.
• Medication prescribing.
