Roadway Design Engineer – Transportation

About the role

Wood Rodgers is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to join its Transportation Department in Denver. You will lead the design of highway, local road, bike trail and pedestrian projects, working closely with senior engineers and a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Design roadway system improvements and related transportation structures.
• Prepare plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Conduct technical studies and produce project reports.
• Develop preliminary concepts and layout plans.
• Oversee and mentor entry‑level staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on roadway design projects.
• Ability to work independently within a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• AutoCAD Civil 3D (and related design software).
• Knowledge of CDOT Design Manual standards.
• Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
