RN - Neurosurgery Physician

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Neurosurgery department. This position provides direct patient care and supports the neurosurgical team in a fast‑paced, academic medical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neurosurgery patients throughout pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative phases.
• Monitor neurological status, vital signs, and pain levels, and promptly report changes to the surgical team.
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and perform wound care and drain management.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families on postoperative care, recovery expectations, and discharge planning.

Required profile

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license (Arkansas preferred).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Experience in acute care or neurosurgical nursing settings.
• Ability to work day shift and function effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and neuro‑monitoring techniques.
• IV therapy, medication administration, and wound care.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record documentation.
• Patient education and discharge planning.
