RN Med/Tele Stepdown – Night Shift

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide step‑down care on the Med/Tele unit during night shifts. The RN will lead patient care using the nursing process, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and uphold Ochsner’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver high‑quality patient care and assess learning needs of patients and families.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively, serving as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Analyze data and apply evidence‑based practices to promote optimal patient outcomes.
• Adapt interactions to respect cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, ensuring patient privacy and informed consent.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements.
• Perform additional related duties as needed to support unit and departmental goals.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred).
• No prior work experience required.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Certification in a clinical specialty area (preferred).
