Risk and Safety Coordinator

About the role

Tarleton State University seeks a Risk and Safety Coordinator to support the university’s risk management, environmental health and safety, emergency management, insurance, and compliance programs. This full‑time, on‑site position works within the Department of Risk & Safety on the main campus in Stephenville, Texas.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety inspections of facilities, labs, construction sites and operational areas, identify hazards and track corrective actions.
• Investigate workplace injuries, accidents, property damage and near‑miss incidents, prepare reports and maintain records in Origami and other systems.
• Coordinate and administer safety, emergency preparedness and compliance training, track completions and schedule drills.
• Maintain safety records, inspection reports, hazard assessments, corrective‑action logs and support audit preparation.
• Review insurance certificates, assist with premiums, claims and risk‑transfer documentation.
• Support programs for minors, emergency management exercises, and business continuity planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Emergency Management, Human Resources or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in administration, program management, risk or compliance.

Required skills

• Experience with safety inspection and incident investigation processes.
• Familiarity with training administration and record‑keeping systems (e.g., Origami).
