Respiratory Therapy Assistant (Student) – PRN, Greater New Orleans

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Assistant who is currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program to support patient care on an as‑needed (PRN) basis. The role provides technical support under the direct supervision of a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist, helping deliver high‑quality respiratory services across the Greater New Orleans area.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Respiratory Therapists in patient care under direct supervision of a CRT/RRT.
• Perform clinical duties as outlined by departmental orientation, assessment, and competency training.
• Support respiratory and hospital administration by following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately document patient‑related tasks and maintain required certifications.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent; enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy school program is preferred.
• No prior experience required; hospital experience is a plus.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
