Respiratory Therapist (PRN) – Temporary Position

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist to join its clinical team on a temporary, fixed‑term basis. This on‑site position supports patient care across a range of acute and chronic respiratory conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct respiratory therapy services to in‑patients, including assessment, treatment, and monitoring.
• Operate and maintain ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and other respiratory equipment.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff.
• Document patient responses and therapy outcomes accurately in the medical record.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques and equipment use.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of Arkansas.
• Eligibility to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in respiratory therapy procedures and equipment.
• Knowledge of ventilator management and airway support.
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and other respiratory diagnostics.
