Resident Engineer – Transportation Infrastructure

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to lead and direct major transportation design‑build, bid‑build, progressive design and CMGC projects across Southern California. You will work closely with Caltrans, OCTA, RCTC, LA Metro and other local agencies, overseeing road, highway, bridge, rail and tunnel solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction to staff, maintain accurate contract records, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Conduct field inspections, material testing, and prepare daily inspection reports and as‑built documentation.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and contract change orders, and resolve contractor disputes.
• Lead interdisciplinary teams, act as company representative with clients and subcontractors, and negotiate scope changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or project management; registered civil engineer in California.
• 10+ years of engineering management experience on road/highway and related infrastructure programs, preferably on Caltrans projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale design projects and serve as a “seller/doer.”
