About the role
The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is seeking motivated recent graduates to join its Economic Research team as Research Associates. This two‑year, in‑office position begins in the summer of 2027 and provides hands‑on experience supporting staff economists on monetary‑policy and academic research projects.
Key responsibilities
- Assist staff economists with data collection, cleaning, and analysis across macroeconomics, finance, and international topics.
- Develop and run econometric models and statistical simulations using programming tools.
- Co‑author Economic Letters and contribute to research reports and policy briefs.
- Present findings to internal teams and participate in interdisciplinary research discussions.
Required profile
- Outstanding academic record, preferably with coursework in economics, finance, mathematics, or statistics.
- Strong analytical mindset and interest in monetary‑policy research.
- Willingness to commit to a two‑year term and consider graduate studies thereafter.
Required skills
- Analytical and computer‑programming skills for economic and statistical analysis.
