Research Associate – Biology Department

About the role

The Biology Department at Texas A&M University is seeking a Research Associate to lead independent microbiology projects. This grant‑funded position supports laboratory research, manuscript preparation, and student mentorship in a collaborative, on‑site environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, conduct, and coordinate microbiology experiments.
• Maintain detailed records, perform statistical analyses, and summarize findings.
• Prepare manuscripts and proposals for funding agencies.
• Train undergraduate and graduate students, as well as technical staff, in aseptic and laboratory techniques.
• Install, operate, and repair research equipment; manage laboratory supplies and ensure a clean workspace.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (microbiology, biology, or related).
• At least two years of microbiology research experience.
• Ability to work safely with PPE and biohazards.
• Strong attention to detail and laboratory note‑taking skills.
