Research Assistant (Temporary) – Law Center

About the role

Under the supervision of Dr. Jamillah Bowman Williams, you will support a faculty‑led legal research project at Georgetown University's Law Center. This temporary position offers hands‑on experience in academic legal research, writing, and data analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Research and retrieve relevant legal source materials and academic literature.
• Conduct literature reviews, case coding, and data analysis.
• Draft, edit, and format articles, book chapters, and other scholarly outputs.
• Verify citations and formatting according to legal standards (e.g., Bluebook).
• Maintain organized research files and assist with data‑management tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in an undergraduate program.
• Strong interest in legal research, public policy, or related fields.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to synthesize complex information.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
• Willingness to learn legal research databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Familiarity with legal citation formats (Bluebook) is a plus.
