About the role
The Research Agronomist & Farm Manager will lead agricultural operations at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center in Corpus Christi, ensuring that farm resources, equipment, and land are managed to support high‑quality research and productive cropping.
Key responsibilities
- Provide full‑service field operations for principal investigators, including land preparation, planting, crop management, irrigation coordination, data collection support, and harvesting of research plots.
- Oversee day‑to‑day farm activities such as crop planning, soil health management, fertility programs, pest and disease monitoring, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain, repair, schedule, and operate all farm equipment, develop preventive maintenance plans, and manage equipment inventory.
- Optimize non‑research acreage by selecting and managing rotational crops that improve soil health and generate revenue or strategic value.
- Act as primary contact for internal and external organizations requesting field testing, demonstration plots, or collaborative agronomic evaluations, handling logistics, setup, compliance, and reporting.
- Document field activities, collect data, and prepare reports for research and industry partners.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in agronomy and farm management.
- Ability to coordinate with researchers and external partners.
- Strong knowledge of crop production, soil health, pest and disease management, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in equipment maintenance and inventory control.
