Research Administrator I – Pre-Award Support

About the role

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) at Texas A&M University provides research administration support to the university community. The SRS Research Administrator I works in the pre‑award area, assisting faculty and staff with preparing and submitting research proposals, ensuring compliance with sponsor and university guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist researchers in preparing standard proposals, determining sponsor requirements, and developing budgets and forms.
• Review proposals for compliance, coordinate revisions, and respond to sponsor inquiries.
• Enter proposal information into submission systems such as Grants.gov and the university’s financial systems.
• Collaborate with department heads, deans, and external partners to resolve proposal issues and compile final submission packages.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of related experience in accounting or budget development in a university or business environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Experience creating and manipulating spreadsheets and database software.
• Familiarity with Grants.gov submission system.
