Repayment Associate – Travel Loan Program

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Repayment Associate to support the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) Travel Loan Program. Based in Washington D.C., the incumbent will work under the Senior TLP Associate and the Head of USRAP TLP to manage outstanding loan balances and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Contact TLP participants regarding outstanding debts or fully paid loans.
• Maintain accurate records of loan accounts and repayment status.
• Apply IOM principles while following applicable federal, state, and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal teams to process payments and resolve disputes.
• Prepare regular reports on collection activities and account balances.

Required profile

• University degree with at least three years of relevant experience, or high school diploma with at least five years of experience.
• Experience in office management, accounting, bookkeeping, billing, or collections.
• Fluency in English (oral and written) and proficiency in Amharic and/or Tigrinya.
• Strong verbal communication and persuasive abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) is advantageous.
