Registered Nurse (RN) – Hospital – New Orleans

About the role

This position leads patient care at Ochsner Medical Center, applying the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN delegates, directs, and assists team members while ensuring quality outcomes and cultural sensitivity.

Key responsibilities

• Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
• Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary groups.
• Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources, serving as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Uses data and knowledge to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
• Adapts behavior to respect patient privacy, cultural preferences, and communication styles.
• Performs other related duties as required and stays current with federal, state, and local regulations.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior work experience required.
• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
