Registered Nurse – Main Pre‑Op

About the role

The Main Pre‑Op Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients preparing for surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Working the day shift, the RN ensures safe and efficient pre‑operative processes within a collaborative clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and gather pre‑operative information.
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support staff to schedule and prepare patients for procedures.
• Administer medications, start IV lines, and monitor vital signs according to protocols.
• Document all care activities accurately in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients and families about pre‑operative instructions and postoperative expectations.
• Maintain a clean and safe pre‑operative area, adhering to infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• Current University of Arkansas System employee (including student employees or graduate assistants) who can access Workday to apply.
• Valid RN license and proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Ability to work day shift in an onsite clinical setting.
