Registered Nurse – Cancer Medical Authorization

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) for Cancer Medical Authorization will support oncology patients by reviewing and processing medical authorization requests, ensuring timely and accurate access to necessary treatments. This position works within a collaborative clinical team at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Review cancer‑related medical authorization requests for completeness and compliance.
• Coordinate with physicians, pharmacists, and insurance representatives to obtain required documentation.
• Maintain accurate records in the patient chart and ensure proper coding.
• Educate patients and families about the authorization process and expected timelines.
• Monitor authorization status and follow up on pending items to prevent treatment delays.
• Adhere to institutional policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Current RN license in Arkansas (or ability to obtain).
• Experience in oncology or cancer‑center nursing preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with clinical staff and external payers.
