Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health Inpatient Child Unit

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences seeks a Registered Nurse to provide direct behavioral health care for children in an inpatient setting. The RN will join an interdisciplinary team, integrate evidence‑based practice, and support patient safety and therapeutic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver effective direct care to children in the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) Child Diagnostic Unit.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and provide leadership to nursing staff.
• Integrate theory and research into clinical practice and offer feedback for improvement.
• Complete conflict‑management training within six months of hire.
• Participate in unit committees, recruitment, and retention activities.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate, Diploma, BSN, or MSN).
• Minimum one year of RN experience; two years preferred.
• Current, valid Arkansas RN license.
• Strong communication, basic computer proficiency, work ethic and accountability.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Basic computer skills
